Flat Panel displays are HOT!

Sony introduces a new Flat Panel XBR Series. This new series of XBR displays includes 30", 42", and 50" widescreen, 16x9 flat panel sizes. The 30" is a high-resolution LCD. The 2 larger sizes utilize plasma technology.

This is a closer view of the Sony 30" flat panel. It is a high-resolution, LCD-technology panel with distinctive Sony styling.
Nakamichi introduced this very stylish, floor-standing 22" widescreen high-resolution LCD television. Estimated price is $2990.
The new Denon DVD2900 is one of the more modestly-priced high-performance DVD players that includes all surround sound formats including the high-resolution music formats SACD multichannel and DVD Audio. Price is $990.
Fossil showed the WristPDA, a prototype Palm PDA in a wrist watch size.
Fossil also showed this prototype watch utilizing Microsoft SPOT technology (Smart Personal Objects Technology). This watch not only shows time, it can reset itself by timezone as you travel and provide other personalized information. It uses information transmitted from Microsoft SPOT servers via unused FM sidebands. It was a key item mentioned in Bill Gates' keynote speech before the opening of CES.
The MX800 from Universal Electronics is a new programmable remote control that includes Radio Frequency transmission from the remote control to a base station which then transmits the remote signal via infrared emitters to each of the components. The color of the remote is not final. Projected price is $799, plus programming time.
The MX3000 is a new programmable remote with a combination of hard buttons for the most frequently used functions, and a color touchscreen for complete customization of other component control functions. It must be programmed with the Universal Electronics MX Editor software. Projected price is $990, plus programming time.
Here is the Sony Blu-ray. Sony, as well as Panasonic, showed high-capacity DVD prototypes capable of storing enough information for a High Definition movie. This technology is still years away, but it's clear that progress is being made.
DVD recorders may come into their own soon, The Pioneer DVR002H is a DVD recorder that also has an 80GB hard drive in it. Projected price is $800.
